Monal (मोनाल)

State Bird

Monal or Himalayan Monal is the state bird of Uttarakhand. The bird is found in a wide range in the Himalayas which possesses a wiry, metallic green head-crest eyes are ringed with blue, and the neck is reddish-brown and have spoon-shaped feathers which is absent in other Monal species of the world.

Brahma Kamal (ब्रह्म कमल)

State Flower

Brahma Kamal named after God Brahma, is the state flower of Uttarakhand. Brahma Kamal is of white colour. It is the medicinal herbs found in the Himalayas which are offered with devotion in the hill temples at Kedarnath and Badrinath.

Alpine Musk Deer (अल्पाइन मस्क डियर)

Alpine Musk Deer is the state mammal of Uttarakhand found in the Himalayan foothills. They have dark brown color with whitish yellow spots and stripes on the chest and the body is covered over with coarse and brittle hairs.

Kafal, the berry, is the state fruit of Uttarakhand. It is a tree or large shrub found in hills of North India which is an important Indian medicinal plant. It is red in color turning nearly purple at full maturity half ripen Kafal has pinkish color and taste sour and sweet

Burans is the state tree of Uttarakhand. It is the shrub or small tree with a showy display of bright red flowers. The flower of Burans is used to make in producing several medicines and squash of the juice of flower called Burans.

Kandali(कंडाली)

Kandali is the state plant of Uttarakhand. The plant of Kandali, blooms purple color flower once every twelve years. The plant is used as herbal medicine, and young leaves are used to cook and eaten as a nutritious potherb. This plant causes itchy rashes when it comes in contact with the skin.

Bal Mithai (बाल मिठाई)

Bal Mithai is a state sweet of Uttarakhand which is in brown color. It is brown chocolate fudge like appearance, which is made with roasted khoa and is covered with white sugar balls. It is one of the most popular and favourite sweet of people of Uttarakhand.

About Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand, also known as Dev Bhoomi, the land of God, is simply heaven. It was formed on 9th November 2000 as 27th state of India. Dehradun is the Capital of Uttarakhand but on 4th March 2020, Gairsain, in Chamoli district, became the summer capital and Dehradun as the winter capital of Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand is divided into two region Garhwal region and Kumaon region with 13 districts. The high court of Uttarakhand is situated in Nainital.

Hindi and Sanskrit are the language of Uttarakhand where hindi is the official language of Uttarakhand. Garhwali and Kumaoni are the native or regional language of Uttarakhand. People residing here are known as Garhwali, kumauni and jaunsari.

It is surrounded by snowcapped hills, water and tree makes it more beautiful. Everywhere is Greenery and cleanliness. There are many historical temples, pilgrimage, trekking, river rafting, meditation, yoga, skiing, wildlife sanctuaries and much more are blessed to have here. These features attract tourists not only from India but tourists from abroad also love it.
